Team Splatmaster

The Splatmaster is shown above with a tactical LED flashlight, a button compass, the ubiquitous SpyderCo Clipit Endura, and my particular adventure hat – the OD Green Boonie.The Splatmaster – for many of us, it was our first foray into paintball. Puke-green plastic exterior, cocking system that defies physical logic; it is truly a wonder to behold.

For me, it was the big Houston gunshow, back when they were still held in the Astrohall. I was in 7th grade and there was a guy set-up in the corner of the show with a taped off area – covered in plastic sheeting – with a turned around folding chair as a target. I was with my old friend Chris Barnes. I am guessing the range was somewhere around 30 yards. Chris fired and hit the chair with a resounding ping. I saw the splat. I fired and missed, but I was hooked.

He joined the Marines. I started a paintball club.
