Overlanding Expo in Texas . . .
A friend sent me over some details on the Texas Avid Outdoors 2017 Fall Outdoor Expo, taking place October 13th – 15th in Llano.
Here’s what caught my attention:
Friday will be vendor check in and for folks who want to camp for the weekend. Saturday is the main event(s) with some great things planned and Sunday is when everyone says their sad goodbyes and goes home. We have also decided to make a change in venue as well. To accommodate a longer and larger event, we have moved the event to Oxford Ranch Campgrounds in Llano. The place is beautiful and just a short drive to Enchanted Rock! While our event is still free, the campground does charge $8 per day but includes being able to camp the night as well! Last, but not least, we are changing our format. While we have always balanced both the family camping aspect with overland/expedition aspect, this year we are have made the decision to focus on the overland lifestyle. This comes from a growth in our personal tastes more than anything. For those who are unaware of what overlanding is, it essentially vehicle-based camping without necessarly having a destination in mind. It is definitely based in adventure! We have some amazing vendors lined up as well as some great interactive things, like a pinewood derby, as well as educational classes and lessons that include outdoor photography, first aid and offroad vehicle recovery. Stay tuned for updates as we move forward. We look forward to seeing so many of our old friends and family!
Interestingly enough, the TAO group looks like a few buddies that got together and took their adventures online. Super cool.
. . . and they’ve gotten some cool overlanding vendors to come down to Central Texas! Huzzah!
